Global Warming
Are We Really Being Told the Truth?
The changes in time create different problems to be solved. Global warming, an unstoppable/irreversible problem that has put the planet of Earth into issues that cause major harms. The film, “An Inconvenient Truth, Dir. Davis Guggenheim, Perf. Al Gore, DVD, Paramount, 2005” has raised awareness to the topic of global warming. One potential problem to be aware of are the vast environment and climate changes in all over the world. The melting of glaciers and the ice caps has lead to droughts, harmful precipitation, and other natural disasters like tornadoes in Mid-West America, hurricanes in the Caribbean and the state of New Orleans with hurricane Katrina, and typhoons in Japan. The arctic creates reflecting shields to reflect the suns rays into space to create a stable climate and weather for the planet; according to "Global Warming" (Mark Maslin) the first diagram (The Earth’s annual global mean energy balance shows a detailed form of how the Earth absorbs and releases heat through the aid of the polar ice caps and how it transfers its energy through out. However, the melting of the ice caps causes an increase of sea level. Eventually, the raise in sea level will create a catastrophic change to areas where the sea level is lower, like New York City. The out come of spreading of water has lead to a spread of diseases like the West Nile Virus and Swine Flu due to heat expulsion, lack of water, and the air around precipitated water. Finally air bubbles collected by scientist’s show recent trends in the temperature changes “Kolbert, Elizabeth" The Climate of Man-II." The New Yorker 2 May 2005: 9” and graphs shown in "Global Warming" (Mark Maslin). This topic has been touched upon briefly by some political leaders who care about the environment like former Vice President for the Clinton Administration Al Gore but yet his actions are not enough to convince people globally. This eventually leads to how military wars could just break out if there is competition due to food shortages leading to survival of the fittest as shown in An Inconvenient Truth. Dir. Davis Guggenheim. Perf. Al Gore. DVD. Paramount , 2005.
